COSA Jeffco Open Space – GIS Intern

If you’re a Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst looking for a new opportunity, then Jefferson County Open Space wants to bring to your attention a position that we currently have open. This position provides you with an opportunity to work within teams that collaborates on producing high quality results and solving complex problems. Jeffco Open Space was founded as a land conservation organization in 1972 by PLAN Jeffco and The League of Women Voters of Jefferson County. These organizations proposed a unique concept to the Board of County Commissioners to preserve the scenic vistas and open lands within the county using the collection of one-half of one percent tax on sales in Jefferson County to fund the program. The voters agreed, thereby ensuring perpetual land conservation, stewardship of open space and parklands, and access for public enjoyment.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Using GIS (Arc 10.x) software and related equipment:
  • Development and maintain GIS Databases within a relational model.
  • Support on GIS data collection and research.
  • Support geospatial analysis efforts.
  • Produce high quality cartographic visuals.

The position works no more than 130 hrs a month for 6 months.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Applicant should have sound knowledge of current principles, methods, and technologies related to GIS and field collection.
• Demonstrate skills using ESRI software (Arc 10.x and ArcPro).
• Ability to record data in a legible manner.
• Ability to work outdoors on various terrain and conditions
• Knowledge and skills in Microsoft Excel & Window-based applications.

The following are strongly preferred:

• Knowledge and skills in Adobe Creative Suite
• Ability to work outdoors
• Interest in land management, land conservation and GIS

PAY AND OTHER BENEFITS:

• $14.00 per hour
• Development and enhancement of GIS, data analysis skills and cartographic presentation, training will be conducted.
