Job posting: Field and Greenhouse Research Assistant
We are looking to hire a motivated and organized individual to manage plant ecology projects at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. The primary project is a reciprocal transplant study of a rangeland invasive plant between its central (Colorado) and northern (Montana) range. The project is a joint effort among researchers at Colorado State U., the USDA, and the U.S. Geological Survey.
Required skills: The individual must be self-motivated, organized, and able to manage the details of a large and complex project. Ability to work in outdoor and greenhouse conditions is required, including some work at remote locations. Experience and/or coursework in ecology, plant biology, entomology, horticulture, environmental science, and related fields, including the completion of a degree in these areas, is desirable, as is experience working with plants in outdoor and greenhouse settings.
The position is seasonal and will last from March – Sept 2019. Pay is commensurate with experience. Most of the work will take place in or near Fort Collins, CO; however, some travel for collections and visits to the Montana field site will be needed. The successful applicant must be able to work in outdoor conditions, lift 20 kg, and transport themselves to a nearby field site.
