Spring and Summer Natural Resource Internship, Denver, CO

ERO Resources Corporation (ERO), an environmental consulting firm headquartered in Denver, Colorado, is seeking a natural resource intern for our Denver office from May until the end of September 2022. We are a team of natural and cultural resource consultants with offices in Denver, Durango, and Hotchkiss, Colorado. Our expertise in science and planning provides an approach to the environment that balances development with natural and cultural resources protection. The intern will gain experience in the environmental consulting industry and exposure to environmental regulations, permit applications, and document preparation.

This position supports new and existing natural resource projects based out of our Denver office. Primary duties include assisting with literature research and organization, database entry, wetland delineations, natural resource assessments, and other natural resource-related fieldwork. Depending on experience, other duties could include preparing sections of draft reports. The candidate must be well organized and able to perform desktop/office-related duties while working from home with remote supervision during the pandemic. Office space will be provided and the amount of time in the office will be dependent on the projects being completed, as well as current protocols related to the pandemic. The majority of June through August will be in the field around the Denver Front Range area. Professionalism, integrity, and comfort working with people are of the utmost importance as the position requires regular contact with team members in the field, in the office, and virtually as needed.

Minimum qualifications: The candidate must have, or be in the process of obtaining, a bachelor’s degree in biology, botany, environmental science, ecological restoration, range science, natural resource planning, or similar discipline. One to two years of Colorado natural resource experience, including plant and wildlife identification or coursework, is preferable.

The successful candidate will be detail oriented; possess the ability to work simultaneously on, and prioritize, multiple projects; and have the capability to work both as a member of an interdisciplinary team and independently. Candidates must be physically able to perform strenuous fieldwork, carry a minimum of 25 pounds, hike more than 3 miles per day over rough terrain, and work in adverse weather conditions. Occasional overnight travel may be required.

The internship will run through the end of September 2022. The pay is $16/hour. The number of hours per week will vary from 24 to 40. No benefits are included.
