The Jefferson County Open Space Natural Resources team is excited to announce several opportunities to join our team for the 2024 field season:
2 Full Time Forestry Specialists
Duties: Implement forest management on JCOS Parks and properties by safely overseeing a team of Limited Term Employees during implementation of fuels-reduction, habitat enhancement, and forest restoration projects. This will require extensive chainsaw use, as well as operating and maintaining light and heavy equipment. Depending on project needs, the Natural Resources Specialist may also assist with collecting and analyzing forest inventory and monitoring data; engaging in public relations activities; and, working effectively as part of a team in challenging conditions and remote locations.

Hiring Range: $31.50 – $35 USD Hourly

4 Seasonal Noxious Weed Technicians
Duties: Assist with invasive species management on JCOS Parks and properties by implementing invasive species management projects. This will require mixing, loading, and applying herbicides using motorized and/or hand-held equipment; safely operating light and heavy equipment, and hand tools during; following requirements and regulations of local, county, state, and federal weed control programs, including all requirements relative to pesticide storage, mixing, application, and disposal; collecting vegetation field data; and, working effectively as part of a team in challenging conditions and remote locations.
Hire Range: $23.00-$24.50 USD Hourly
Limited Benefits: The employment status is Limited (Fixed-Term) and is eligible for personal medical coverage following the month after you start.
3 Seasonal Forestry Technicians
Duties: Assist with forest management on JCOS Parks and properties by implementing fuels reduction, habitat enhancement, and forest restoration projects. This will require extensive chainsaw, chipper use, difficult hiking, and safely operating light and heavy equipment; collecting forest inventory and monitoring data depending on project needs; and, working effectively as part of a team in challenging conditions and remote locations.
Hiring Range: $23-$25 Hourly
Limited Benefits: The employment status is Limited (Fixed-Term) and is eligible for personal medical coverage following the month after you start.
