With all these great job openings being posted almost daily, please keep in mind a few front-range training opportunities for your new (and existing) staff!
Certified Interpretive Guide – this certificate through the National Association of Interpretation helps get staff the basic skills to plan and deliver programs to the public, and practice professional communication. This 32-hour course is offered at a variety of locations in person, or is offered virtually on a regular basis. We have an in-person option here in Littleton at South Platte Park starting March 4. The CIG certificate is under “courses” on the professional development tab, and the professional level certifications have their own section. Coming soon, we anticipate adding a session May 27 – 30 focused for teens and adults recently out of school (ages 16 to 22 or so) that will target the knowledge and experience of this group, with less intimidation than being in a class with those with a lot more work-force experience.
Native Plant Master Classes – CSU’s Cooperative Extension continues to expand the Colorado Native Plant Master Program around the state. Specifically in the south metro area, South Platte Park staff will be offering classes at several locations, available through the registration pages for Arapahoe/Douglas and Jefferson counties. You can visit the Native Plant Master webpage or search for counties near you to find their offerings, as a centralized registration site is being developed. Some classes have already filled, but new ones are being added online frequently over the next few weeks.
Thanks!
