COSA Denver Park Ranger Basic Academy Session 2.0

Hello COSA,

The Denver Park Ranger Program is extending an invitation for rangers from outside agencies to participate in our Denver Park Ranger Basic Training Academy. This is a great opportunity to experience Denver’s unique approach to park ranger training, gain new skills, and network.

Our Basic Training Academy runs from May 12th – May 23rd , and we are opening the whole academy to outside agencies. You are invited to decide what trainings your team would find beneficial.

Below is a taste of what you will learn during the academy:

  • Empathetic Enforcement: Learn about our unique approach to empathetic enforcement and our relationship with our CoResponder Team.
  • Low-Light Patrolling: Training to safely and effectively patrol in low-light conditions.
  • Search & Rescue/Swift Water Training: Gain practical skills to handle search and rescues on land and water.
  • Self-Defense & Baton Techniques: Participate in a Krav Maga course for expert guidance in self-defense.
  • Practical scenarios designed to enhance ranger safety and ensure compliance through best practices.
  • Cover Officer and Ranger Safety: Increase your situational awareness and keep yourself and other rangers safe during contacts.
  • Bike and Vehicle Maintenance: Keep yourself mobile by learning key factors in maintaining your equipment.

Our in-house certified trainers provide the chance to earn the following certifications:

  • De-escalation Training: Verbal Judo Institute.
  • Mental Health First Aid: National Council for Mental Wellbeing.
  • BLS/CPR/First Aid: American Heart Association.
  • Narcan Administration: Overdose Lifeline.
  • OC Spray Training: OCAT Personal Protection Consultants Inc.

Denver Park Rangers are uniquely skilled in managing diverse environments, providing participants with a versatile training experience. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of training rangers from Vermont, Maryland, and Boulder, and Highland Hills

Attendance and certifications will be free of cost, however, room and board is not provided.
