Conservation Delivery Manager

Playa Lakes Joint Venture (PLJV) is seeking a person with a proven history of building and maintaining partnerships and a clear understanding of wetland and grassland management and restoration techniques to lead PLJV conservation efforts in New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma. This position will support existing local and regional habitat conservation partnerships, help develop new partnership efforts, inform effective conservation policy implementation, and facilitate on-the-ground conservation delivery to meet established conservation goals.

PLJV is a regional partnership of federal and state wildlife agencies, conservation groups, and private industry dedicated to conserving bird habitat throughout portions of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. We provide regional conservation planning, develop value­-added efficiency and implementation approaches, support local conservation partnerships with decision support tools, work with a variety of partners to target conservation efforts in areas that will provide the most benefit, and inform landowners about conservation programs.

This position is one of two Conservation Delivery Managers who work with PLJV’s interdisciplinary team to implement strategically identified programs and initiatives. While the focus will be in the southern states of the PLJV region, this position may also support activities within the broader six-state region. Partnership projects the position will directly engage with include the Texas Playa Conservation Initiative, New Mexico Grassland Collaborative, Eastern New Mexico Playa Restoration Program, Eastern New Mexico Sentinel Landscape, and Oklahoma POWer.

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources Management, Wildlife Biology, Environmental Studies or related field, and a minimum of 5 years experience in natural resources management.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including experience working with agricultural and livestock producers.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in an adaptive manner.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to convey scientific and technical information to a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate or lead a group in a successful project.
