Boulder County residents ages 14-17 can now apply for summer jobs with the Boulder County Youth Corps. Boulder County is also hiring adults to be Team Leaders. Boulder County is especially in need of female applicants. Please visit our website for more information and to apply.
The Youth Corps will hire 160 teenagers to work 30 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, from June 11 to Aug. 1 on a variety of community service projects. Projects will include such activities as trail construction and maintenance, historic preservation, forest thinning, construction and repair of fencing, landscaping and removal of Russian olive trees and noxious weeds. This year, Corpsmembers will earn a starting wage of $10.20/hour, with the possibility of earning a $100 bonus at the end of the program based on merit and strong attendance. The deadline to submit youth applications is Friday, March 30.
Team Leaders must be at least 21 years old and Assistant Team Leaders must be at least 18 years old. Team Leaders start at $17.67/hour and Assistant Team Leaders at $15.67/hour. Leaders will be employed from May 30 to Aug. 3 to work up to 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. A full list of qualifications is available online. These positions remain open until filled.
The Youth Corps offers one of the best first-job opportunities available for teens in Boulder County. Last summer teams converted half a mile of social trail behind Niwot High School into a four foot wide crusher fines trail, completed wildfire risk reduction treatments around historic structures on open space, designed and installed 2,400 square feet of landscaping at the Boulder County Recycling Center, built a flagstone patio at the Boulder County Fairgrounds, and refurbished the public areas at Bald Mountain.
