We are excited to announce that the call for data submissions for the Colorado Forest Management Activity Tracker is now open!
The purpose of the Colorado Forest Management Activity Tracker, known as the Forest Tracker, is to provide a transparent and comprehensive resource for communities, natural resource and fire managers, policy makers, and researchers with a better understanding of completed forest management locations across Colorado. The success of this project to benefit Colorado’s forests relies on your voluntary data contributions. Please reach out with any questions and encourage your forestry partners to submit their data.
Background
The Colorado Forest Restoration Institute and the Colorado State Forest Service, both housed at Colorado State University, have partnered to leverage the unique expertise of each organization to build the Colorado Forest Tracker. This inventory of state-wide completed forest management activities will enhance CFRI’s previous Colorado Interagency Treatment Database and be integrated with the CSFS Colorado Forest Atlas, and other publicly available tools and datasets, to facilitate the reporting, application, and science of forest management activities across all land ownerships throughout the state.
What Is in the Forest Tracker?
- Completed management activities on natural and working lands.
- Woody vegetation management activities (forest canopy and surface management techniques, reforestation).
- Activity location and acres managed.
- Year completed, including activities from Jan. 1, 2000 – Sept. 30, 2023.
- Agency and funding source.
