Description: Butterfly Pavilion is seeking a full-time Target Species Manager to fulfill the research and conservation goals at Butterfly Pavilion, working in close cooperation with the Director of Research & Conservation, VP for Science, Conservation, and Operations, Environmental and Ecological Services, Horticulture, and Curatorial Departments. Much of that work will involve conservation and research focused on target invertebrates in the field, including international field sites. The Target Species Manager assists with Butterfly Pavilion Research and Conservation and Environmental and Ecological Services projects including project design, permitting, fieldwork, data collection and analysis, specimen preservation, specimen identification, GIS mapping, and report writing. This position also conducts work on bee conservation and bee keeping projects, developing, and implementing project plans, including for beekeeping projects at international locations and managing Butterfly Pavilion’s apiary, including hive maintenance and overseeing the annual honey harvest.
This position requires a motivated, detail-oriented individual with strong project management skills, who can effectively communicate in writing and orally with fellow professionals and the public about the importance of conserving invertebrates and their habitats. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience with keeping honeybees and the ability to teach others about responsible honeybee keeping.
Salary range:$55,000-$60,000
