The City of Boulder Junior Ranger team is excited to announce that we are now hiring for two permanent leadership positions focused on youth development, early job skills, and environmental education! We are hiring one Volunteerism and Service Learning Senior Program Manager (my former position, for those who know me), and one Service Learning Program Lead (a new fulltime regular position). Among other things, both of these positions will:
- Manage programs and projects related to OSMP’s Junior Ranger Program (an early work experience and stewardship education program for teens ages 14-17)
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Temporary and Seasonal staff
- Provide leadership and direction for staff including safety program management, creating work project management plans and schedules, ensuring team responsiveness, curriculum development and implementation, public communications, administrative and logistical management, and close collaboration with other OSMP workgroups and city departments
The Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks Department is responsible for managing over 45,000 acres of protected land and approximately 155 miles of developed and maintained trails. The Junior Ranger Program is a legacy program that has employed hardworking youth ages 14-17 every summer since 1965. These jobs are a rare and unique opportunity to lead a very popular and well-respected youth development program, while also contributing to a prized and extremely biodiverse area of the Front Range!
