Hello COSA,
The Denver Park Ranger Program is thrilled to extend an invitation for up to five rangers from outside agencies to participate in our Denver Park Ranger Basic Training Academy. This is a remarkable opportunity to experience Denver’s unique approach to park ranger training and gain specialized skills. Participating in Denver’s Park Ranger Basic Training Academy will equip you with critical skills, hands-on experience, and recognized certifications, preparing you for the unique challenges of our work.
Our Basic Training Academy runs from March 24th to April 4th, 2025, and we are opening the second half of the academy (March 28th to April 4th) to outside agencies.
Attending the Denver Park Ranger Basic Academy offers invaluable experiences and specialized knowledge. Participants will gain unique insights and hands-on training in:
- Empathetic Enforcement: Learn about our unique approach to empathetic enforcement and our relationship with our CoResponder Team.
- Zebra Device Training: Hands-on experience with devices used for parking citations.
- Low-Light Patrolling: Training to safely and effectively patrol in low-light conditions.
- Search & Rescue Training: Gain practical skills to handle search and rescue scenarios.
- Self-Defense & Baton Techniques: Participate in a Krav Maga course for expert guidance in self defense.
- Practical scenarios designed to enhance ranger safety and ensure compliance through best practices.
Our in-house certified trainers provide the chance to earn the following certifications:
- De-escalation Training: Verbal Judo Institute.
- Mental Health First Aid: National Council for Mental Wellbeing.
- BLS/CPR: American Heart Association.
- Narcan Administration: Overdose Lifeline.

Denver Park Rangers are uniquely skilled in managing diverse environments, providing participants with a versatile training experience. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of training rangers from Vermont, Maryland, and Boulder.
We are excited to state that attendance will be free of cost, however, room and board is not provided.
