COSA Colorado State Forest Service: Internship Opportunities!

Hi All,

Applications for 2026 Colorado State Forest Service summer undergraduate internships are now open! You can find all the position descriptions on the CSFS Employment webpage. Please note that some internships are open to all Colorado undergraduate students (including those graduating in spring 2026), and some are only open to Warner College of Natural Resources (WCNR) students at CSU. This is due to the funding sources of each internship. Make sure you are looking under the position description section(s) that match your eligibility.

Applications are due on Friday, February 6, 2026 by 11:59 PM MST. You must submit a separate application for each position you are interested in being considered for, but can use the same cover letter for all applications (see specific information required in the cover letter below). Include the following information in your application packet:

General information about the 2026 CSFS Internship Program:

  • Mostly 12-week internships, with 1 6-week internship in Durango.
    • Many internships are flexible to host students taking summer courses as well.
  • $18/hour, $1,500 housing stipends, small professional development stipends.
  • Positions available throughout Colorado: Alamosa, Denver, Durango, Fort Collins, Golden, Grand Junction, Gunnison, La Veta, Montrose, Salida, State Forest/Gould, Woodland Park.
    • State Forest Field Office internship has free housing!
    • Other locations have partnerships with other agencies for cheap housing.
    • Alamosa, Durango, Grand Junction, Forest Legacy Program (Denver), Salida, one of the Communications internships (Fort Collins) and La Veta are open to all undergraduate students in Colorado.
  • Internships range in their focus: forest management, timber cruising, field data collection, wildfire risk mitigation, communications and outreach, environmental education, geospatial analyses, seedling nursery operations, and more!
