COSA REQUEST | Open Space Code Protection Language

Afternoon COSA friends –

The City of Greeley’s Natural Areas & Trails division is working on incorporating language into the City’s municipal code to create a natural area designation process and associated code protections for land the City acquires for perpetual open space.

Currently we use conservation easements for some land acquisition projects, but for smaller projects or those that don’t have grant funder requirements for land use restrictions, there’s a risk for future conversion to other uses that we’d like to shore up with permanent protections.

If your city or county government has code/charter/other language in your regulatory structure that restricts use of open space to that land use perpetually, we’d love to see it and discuss more.

Thanks,

Justin
