Local and federal land managers in Summit County recently completed a comprehensive study of all the trailheads in the county. Our team developed a toolbox of management strategies that can be used address capacity issues and their related impacts to infrastructure, access, user experience, and natural resource degradation.
We are now seeking to develop evaluation criteria for when to implement these strategies. I am reaching out to you to see if your organization has assessment criteria or thresholds that you use to assess when trailhead facilities are in need of expansion or improvement. Written policies, checklists, or evaluations would be especially helpful.
