Hi All!
I hope you are doing well.
Western Slope Ecological Restoration Services (WSERS) is hosting a free community screening of Roots So Deep (you can see the devil down there) on Friday, November 20, from 4:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Paradise Theatre in Paonia.
We’ll be showing Episodes 1 and 4, followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A with three Western Colorado regenerative ranchers: Tony Prendergast of Crawford, Cynthia Houseweart of Hotchkiss, and Benjamin Capron of Paonia. Filmmaker Peter Byck will join the discussion remotely via Zoom.
Throughout the event, Chef Dan Geltz of Mountain View BBQ will be on-site serving food for purchase featuring products from the participating producers. It’s a chance for our community members to learn more about regenerative agriculture, meet some of the people putting it into practice here on the Western Slope, and taste the results.
Although regenerative agriculture and ecological restoration have different objectives, both can contribute to regional ecological resilience, viable local agricultural operations, and healthy rural communities. WSERS is hosting this screening to bring these ideas together and highlight their relevance to the future of Western Colorado’s working landscapes.
My hope is that attendees will leave with a better understanding of regenerative agriculture and how it can be applied in Colorado’s arid environment. Those who manage land may come away with ideas they can apply to their own operations, while others may be inspired to learn more about local regenerative producers and support the work they’re doing.
I’ve attached the press release and event flyer. Would you be willing to share this announcement with your mailing list, members, or other interested parties? I’d appreciate your help getting the word out.
Thank you for your time and consideration. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Best regards,
Matt
