POSITION: Resource Stewardship Program Biological Intern
START & END DATE: START: July 2018
END: September 30, 2018 – with possible extension funding
permitting
PAY RATE: $12.50-14/hour commensurate with experience

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s Resource Stewardship Program has a temporary intern position available for 40 hours per week based in north Denver. Employees are eligible to contribute to a 401k program and the state PERA retirement fund. This position provides a great entrance into the working worlds of Conservation Biology, Public Land Management, Citizen Science and GIS in the beautiful state of Colorado.
DUTIES: This position’s responsibilities will primarily include citizen science program development and management. Duties will include field work using and training others to use the iNaturalist phone app, as well as assistance with map production, data management, biological research, training & education materials, site visits, volunteer management, and administrative duties.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Technician should have a background/education in recreation, volunteer management, ecology, wildlife, botany, natural resources, GIS, or other mapping or resource sciences. Good organizational skills, good written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work with autonomy are required. Experience with using the iNaturalist phone app is preferred.
An ideal candidate will have:
1. Working knowledge of the iNaturalist citizen science phone app.
2. Knowledge of the conservation and recreation industries in Colorado.
3. Experience working with and managing volunteers.
4. Strong work ethic, be organized and have the ability to work in a fast paced setting both independently and in groups.
5. Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely, develop reports and present information both orally and in writing.
6. Must have (or obtain) a Colorado Driver’s license.
