EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: (See actual job description for more details.)

Performs horticulture-related maintenance on flower and shrub beds, including diagnosing and treating disease and pest issues.
Prepares and plants annual and perennial flower beds.
Supervises and manages the weed management program for the City of Brighton for all shrub-beds located in public parks and public places.
Safely uses various herbicides.
Works with community groups and individuals on matters of horticultural interest. This
may also include public education on various horticulture topics.

QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Propagation, planting, cultivation, pruning, and maintenance of plants, shrubs, flowers, trees, and lawns, including proper soil mixtures, fertilization, insect, and disease control.
Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
The importance of "xeriscaping" and why it should be incorporated into Brighton’s overall landscape theme.
