Good morning COSA –
We are in the midst of updating the City’s trail development fee. The fee, last updated in 2014, used approximately $450k per lineal mile of paved 10’ trail. However, the last few trail construction projects have come in between $800k – $2.2 million per mile, depending on the length, complexity, engineering and permitting required. Those costs also include amenities such as HAWK signals, bridges, etc.
My questions to COSA community are:
– What cost do you assume per mile of 10’ wide concrete trail, inclusive of design, engineering, and construction costs?
– What cost do you assume for soft surface trail, inclusive of design, engineering, and construction costs?
– Have you completed any recent trail projects that have confirmed these cost assumptions?
– If you have a trail development fee, what percentage of actual trail construction does it cover?
Thanks in advance for your assistance with gathering these data points.
Best,
Justin
