The City of Fort Collins Natural Areas is celebrating 30 years of sharing special habitats like prairies, foothills, waterways, and forests conserved for wildlife and people. There are 52 conserved natural areas and 114 miles of trail with more being added each year. But the preservation of these natural areas doesn’t just happen; it’s the result of the work of hundreds of volunteers and paid staff who dedicate themselves to these lands in our neighborhoods, around our city, and in our region.
The City’s Senior Supervisor, Natural Areas (Trails and Visitor Amenities) is a position whose work is related to resource management including restoration, wildlife protection, facilities maintenance, trail construction, and land management. This position is responsible for leading the Trails and Visitor Amenities team (TVA) which is responsible for trail/ trailhead/ road maintenance, associated amenities, department signs, and encampment clean-ups. TVA is comprised of full-time, contractual, and seasonal employees varying in experience therefore the ideal candidate will be experienced in supervising and mentoring staff. This hands-on, supervisory role is under the direction of a manager within the Natural Areas Department. The Trails & Visitor Amenities Senior Supervisor is a collaborative position, provides project implementation, management, and oversight, is versatile with outdoor projects, and a good communicator with contractors and coworkers.
