The City of Fort Collins Natural Areas Department is looking for a Worker II – Facilities (Natural Areas), to join our team.
The Worker II – Facilities is a full-time (40 hr/week) position for the Facility Operations Division with the City of Fort Collins Natural Areas Department. This position performs work related to ensuring optimal utilization of the Natural Areas Department’s campus headquarters, known as the Nix Farm Campus (maintenance shop, vehicle storage building, shop yard, barn and outbuildings, and two office buildings), including assessing and evaluating physical space requirements of the department and recommending plans to meet needs, and ensuring proper function of the facilities through ongoing inspection and maintenance. These activities include: maintaining inventories of tools and supplies, procurement of tools and supplies, minor repairs of tools and infrastructure, cleaning the facility and equipment, maintaining and repairing the campus facilities, maintaining the grounds of the facilities, managing contractors and volunteers, monitoring trash removal and recycling, handling shipping and receiving, and assisting other staff with their duties as needed.
This employee will perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks to maintain Natural Areas facilities, and related infrastructure. These activities include but are not limited to: cleaning, maintaining inventories and supplies, minor equipment repair and maintenance, parking lot maintenance, snow removal, and small-scale facility repair work. This position is also involved in landscape operations such as turf management, Colorado native plant exhibition garden management, mowing, herbicide applications, and irrigation operations at the Natural Areas Nix Farm Campus. The ideal candidate has a background in landscaping, customer service, volunteer coordination, and facility maintenance.
