The GIS Manager will help the Open Space and Mountain Parks Department further our mission by providing GIS leadership and direction to the department. This position supervises GIS operations and provides support to staff throughout the department in the area of GIS. The GIS Manager supports the overall success of the organization, emphasizing a problem-solving orientation, effective communication, focus on continuous improvement, and efficient, and accountable service to internal and external customers. The ideal candidate will bring leadership, coordination, and creative solutions to the GIS team as it advances its goal of getting more value from the City’s data. This position will direct, coach, and review the work of lower-level professionals. Additionally, the GIS Manager will collaborate with the RIS/GIS team and Power Users from across the department and city-wide on spatial and non-spatial projects.

As a member of the department’s Resource Information Services (RIS) team, the GIS Manager will implement the Resource Information Services Strategic Operations Plan and work with a variety of subject matter experts to learn, support, and improve workflows for programs ranging from recreation to resource preservation and restoration.
