Hello COSA,
The Denver Park Ranger Program is excited to offer the opportunity for as many as ten (10) park ranger trainees to attend our Annual Basic Training Academy June 17-28, 2024. If you have new or current hires that require a specific skill set for urban environments, or if your department is interested in approaching enforcement from a perspective other than criminalizing homelessness we have trainings to fit your needs. Denver park rangers are uniquely positioned to train you in both urban, prairie and mountain settings. Denver rangers have trained park rangers from Vermont and Maryland; this year we have five spots reserved for rangers from Tennessee. We will be offering this opportunity free of charge. Below is information on what we offer. Room and board will not be provided, training locations vary from urban to mountain settings. Please reach out to me, Denver’s Training Manager, Jodie Marozas for more information. Space is limited, please sign up before we fill up.
Attending Denver’s Park Ranger Basic Academy will provide invaluable experiences, knowledge, and certifications. You will have the unique opportunities to:
- Learn about our unique approach to empathetic enforcement and our relationship with our CoResponder Team.
- Experience hands on training with our Zebra devices utilized to facilitate parking citations.
- Receive training on how to effectively and safely patrol in low light conditions
- Undergo Search and Rescue training
- Attend a Krav Maga self-defense/baton course to receive expert training on how to protect yourself in critical incidents
- Learn how Denver Park Rangers lead fun and interactive education programs.
- Practical scenarios built to showcase and teach ranger safety with the intended outcome of gaining compliance
In addition to this, our in-house certified trainers offer the incredible opportunity to receive the following certifications:
- De-escalation – Verbal Judo Institute
- Mental Health First Aid – National Council for Mental Wellbeing
- BLS/CPR – American Heart Association

Please reach out if you are interested in attending and I will send you the full Basic Training schedule, you do not need to be present for the full 2 weeks and can pick and choose trainings that fit your needs.
