The Southern Rockies Seed Network (SRSN) is a non-profit organization established in 2014 as a regional collaborative partnership to develop native ecotypic plant material for ecological restoration and conservation projects. Our mission is, “To preserve the genetic integrity of our native flora through collaborative planning for plant materials development.” Our partners include government entities, nurseries, seed growers and distributors, researchers, and other non-profit organizations.
SRSN is looking for more partners.
SRSN is currently applying for grants to create a post-disaster strategic seed reserve. As we all know, it is not a matter of if but when a natural disaster will occur such as a fire or flood. SRSN’s goal is to create a seed reserve that partners can tap into to provide diverse, ecotypic seed sources to restore affected watersheds and create resilient landscapes following the next disaster. Partners that can help match grants like these are essential to continuing our mission.
SRSN is also recruiting for two more board members. We are looking for one person with a legal background that can help review contracts such as those with seed growers. The other position of need is a person with a financial background to help oversee the network’s finances. If you have either of these skills and a passion for ecological restoration please consider applying for the board.
