COSA CoNPS 5 program Virtual Garden Tour Series

The Colorado Native Plant Society’s Summer Virtual Garden Tour Series! Five interactive webinars held on selective Sundays from 1-2pm. Season ticket -$30 CoNPS members & $35 non-members. Per class price is $10 /$15 ($15/$20 for Panayoti Kelaidis). PowerPoint presentations and videos are provided for registrants free for 30 days afterward.

REGISTER at conps.org under Current Activities. You must register for each program separately. Once you purchase a season ticket in the first registration, choose that option (instead of separate) for all subsequent registrations.

June 7 – Urban Short Grass Prairie features Lois & Will MacPhee’s 2-1/2 acres in SE Denver, Pattridge Open Space in Arvada, a video of how Rick Brune turned his backyard into a prairie, and an introduction to the Urban Prairies Project.

June 14 – Panayoti Kelaidis personal gardens! Panayoti will showcase his collections in his rock gardens (with water features) from his travels to steppes around the world.

July 19 – Urban Front Yard Redesign Colorado State University Assistant Professor Jennifer Bousselot in the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture has done just that. In her south Denver metro neighborhood, turfgrass is the norm. This spring, Jen hired her landscape architect friend, Karla Dakin of K. Dakin Design to rethink her front yard landscape. Join this garden tour to view the design and decision making process, before-and-after images as well as final results.

July 26 – date tentative – High Plains Environmental Center Centerra, in Loveland, is the first community in Colorado to be certified by the National Wildlife Federation as a Wildlife Habitat Community. This tour of High Plains Environmental Center will highlight strategies that made this achievement possible including; creating open space in the midst of development, demonstration gardens that promote the use of native plants, and a nursery that makes native plants available to the public.

Aug 2 – Designing Backyard Wetlands for Wildlife, Diversity and Tranquility John Giordanengo will show us how he created a wetland wonderland in his small backyard using Colorado’s native species, and he will explain the fundamentals of wetland ecology.
