This spring, we have a unique opportunity to take action to protect Colorado’s public lands and waters. In the last two decades, Colorado has lost over a half-million acres of natural lands to development. Now is the time to act. If Colorado continues on the same path of nature loss due to rapid development compounded by climate change, we will see the collapse of entire ecosystems, prolonged fire seasons, water scarcity and more.

To tackle these large-scale threats, we need ambitious solutions. The new, scientist-led global movement to protect 30% of the world’s lands and waters by 2030 will put us on the path to a cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable future. 30×30 will require collective action to support locally-led conservation goals in the outdoor mecca of Colorado .

You can play a meaningful role in showing Colorado’s elected officials how important their leadership is in The Wilderness Society’s 30×30 Campaign. Right now, we are hiring interns and recruiting volunteers to work on our campaign starting now, through early April. There are many opportunities to get involved remotely – from collecting petitions, to driving social media campaigns, to organizing events. With your support, we can set the stage to accelerate the pace and scale of land conservation to 30% by the end of the decade.
