COSA Sr. Parks & Open Space Ranger Position with City of Longmont

The City of Longmont is excited to announce an opening for a Sr. Parks and Open Space Ranger with the City’s Parks & Natural Resources Division. The Sr. Parks and Open Space Ranger will work with the Division team to protect popular public lands in Longmont including Union Reservoir, McIntosh Lake, and the St. Vrain Greenway. The Sr. Parks and Open Space Ranger will supervise the patrol of open space properties, parks, nature areas, greenways, and trails on foot, by motorized vehicle, and/or motorboat while checking for potential safety and maintenance hazards. The position will enforce rules and regulations regarding municipal code, write municipal summonses as required, plan and schedule work of subordinate staff, maintain and update training programs, and provide professional representation of the parks service area at community meetings, council meetings, and advisory board meetings when requested.

Qualifications for this position include any combination of education and experience equivalent to college level course work in land management, parks and forestry, recreation or a related field, and at least two years related experience in basic public safety and visitor services, public lands enforcement, and land management. Supervisory experience is preferred, as is certification in emergency services, law enforcement, and other related skills.
