The Ecological Restoration Institute (ERI) at Northern Arizona University, in coordination with our sister institutes – the Colorado Forest Restoration Institute (CFRI) at Colorado State University (CSU), and the New Mexico Forest and Watershed Restoration Institute (NMFWRI) at New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU) – is seeking to recruit a Southwest Ecological Restoration Institutes (SWERI) Program Director of Cross-Boundary Fire and Fuel Treatment Assessment and Application and a Grant & Project Support Coordinator, Senior to lead SWERI efforts in a multi-year, national project funded through the bipartisan “Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act” (IIJA) of 2021.

The program of work for these two initial positions will serve to meet the provisions specified in the IIJA, and includes compiling and managing geospatial data for federally-funded fuels treatment projects and wildfires occurring across jurisdictions; coordinating and facilitating use of these data in assessing, planning, and monitoring fuel treatment interactions with wildfires; and reporting fuel treatment effectiveness to Congress and affected entities. Location: While it is preferred that both positions are housed at NAU’s Flagstaff Campus, the New NAU Workplace policy outlines NAU’s hybrid/remote/flexible work policy and practices and remote options will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, with considerations given to demonstrated ability to work hybrid/remote/flexible, need for in-person services, staff schedules and job functions, individual performance, technology needs and availability, etc. The incumbent must be able to travel to Washington DC, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, etc.

    • The program director will be the driving force behind this high-profile, multi-institutional project, and will direct the development, function, implementation, coordination, communications, and success of this unprecedented program.
    • Salary Range – $72,445 – $90,556; commensurate with candidate’s qualifications and related experience.

  • Grant & Project Support Coordinator, Senior
    • This position is responsible for the oversight and administration of the ERI’s IIJA agreement and associated subaward and contract processes and procedures for all funding-related activities for this project.
    • Salary Range – $47,634 – $59,542; commensurate with candidate’s qualifications and related experience.
