Position Announcement: Natural Resources Coordinator

DHM Design is an innovative and respected landscape architecture, land planning, and ecological planning firm with offices in Denver, Carbondale, Durango, Missoula, and Bozeman. Our team is searching for a new member to fill the position of Natural Resources Coordinator in our Carbondale, Colorado office. DHM Design is a unique, full-service firm which focuses energy in ensuring that ecological and environmental perspectives are understood and communicated in every aspect of our projects.

The Natural Resources Coordinator will work closely with our ecological services team on a variety of environmental assessment, compliance and design projects both in the private and public arenas. Specifically, the Natural Resource Coordinator will support and lead efforts in complex resource investigations including wetland delineations, USACE permitting, NEPA compliance, natural resource inventories and existing conditions analysis, property management recommendations and resource monitoring. The position will require sufficient knowledge of ArcGIS/ArcGIS Pro, ability to collect field data, process field data and write technical reports. The position will also require writing technical reports, providing recommendations, and monitoring of natural resources in varied ecological environments through the intermountain west.

In addition, the position will be central in assisting design team members in communicating environmental and ecological objectives, performing on site assistance with resource mapping, planning, and construction administration of various types of projects. This is a position which will assist in numerous tasks in the resource arenas of ecological planning and landscape architecture and will be a true mix of inventory, reporting, design support, and assisting in varied and non-traditional resource tasks.

EXPERIENCE LEVEL

We are seeking a candidate with a minimum of 2-5 years of professional project experience. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently and participate in all aspects of the design process in a small hands-on environment. Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.

o Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

o Ability to communicate in written format including reports, observation reports, technical observations, and other various written formats

o Environmental data collection, proficiency in ArcGIS/ArcGIS Pro/ArcCollector and other GPS Technologies

o Experience creating, editing, and analyzing information within Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software to produce maps and spatial analysis for natural resources, land use / land cover, ecotypes, habitat, etc.

o Ability to lead field efforts conducting wetland delineations, vegetation analysis and inventory, wildlife surveys

o Travel as needed, to individual project locations

o Willingness to learn about project management, budgeting, and scheduling

o Experience conducting wetland delineations in support of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permitting and compliance

o Familiarity with compliance regulations related to NEPA; Endangered Species Act; Migratory Bird Treaty Act; Clean Water Act; and state and local environmental rules and regulations and related reporting requirements

o Experience working with tribal, federal, state, or local agencies and the public

SALARY

Salary range for this position is $60-62k depending on experience.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Planning, Natural Resource Management, Ecology, Environmental Resource Management, or closely related field is required.
