I’m excited to announce some details of our upcoming Partners in the Outdoors Conference, which will take place from April 27-29, 2027 at the Keystone Conference Center.
2027 Conference Theme
Stewardship: Honoring Roots, Cultivating Futures
We gather this year to honor the diverse ways we all serve as stewards, and to celebrate the similarities and differences in what stewardship looks like for each and every one of us.
Stewardship is the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one’s care. But it’s more than just management; it’s our shared passion for conserving the outdoors that brings us together. Stewardship is the heartbeat of our collective mission and the foundation upon which we address the challenges and opportunities of Colorado’s outdoors.
Our goal at this year’s conference is to ignite new ideas, deepen our stewardship ethic, and — most importantly — translate that inspiration into tangible actions and impacts. Together, we will explore how to further integrate stewardship into the daily fabric of our work through active collaboration. By uniting our efforts and working together to develop solutions, we can drive the bold actions necessary to conserve and enhance Colorado’s great outdoors for generations to come.
Submit Your Session or Field Trip Proposal by October 23
Does the conference theme resonate with you? Would you like to share your expertise & stories, facilitate collaboration, or inspire others to take action? Consider facilitating a session or field trip at the 2027 Partners in the Outdoors Conference! All submissions are due by October 23.
We have several different presentation opportunities including breakout sessions, lightning talks, posters, and field trips. In summary, sessions should connect with our conference theme and/or the goals and objectives of Colorado’s Outdoors Strategy.
NEW IN 2027- Instead of traditional session tracks, we are utilizing session tags this year. This change allows us to better highlight interdisciplinary work and the interconnectedness of multiple goals. Session tags are based on Colorado’s Outdoors Strategy‘s North Star goals and objectives as well as key topics in the Guidance Framework for Tribal Collaboration. The Planning Committee encourages sessions that encompass the following topics and highlight the interconnectedness among them:

- Wildlife and Biodiversity
- Experiences and Opportunities
- Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
- Management and Stewardship
- Strategic Funding
- Coordinated Planning
- Data and Tools
- Cross-sector Collaboration

- Cultural Resources
- Rematriation
- Stewardship Stories – This tag directly connects with the conference theme. Tell us your story and how your work encompasses stewardship. This can include sessions about agriculture, hunting, angling, outdoor recreation, outdoor equity, education & volunteer programs, and more.
